From concept to impact: how Maan Horti Automation is driven by innovation
A check behind-the-scenes

Innovation in horticultural automation goes beyond just a good idea. It requires close collaboration, technical depth, and the ability to turn a concept into a practical, working solution. That’s exactly what happens at Maan Horti Automation. In this article, Suzanne, project leader at Maan Horti Automation, shares her knowledge, expertise, and craftsmanship.

Collaboration under one roof
“At Maan Horti Automation, R&D, engineering, and production literally work side by side – all under one roof. We work closely with system suppliers, market experts, and growers themselves. From the first prototype to advanced machinery: every step takes place in-house. A unique approach,” Suzanne explains.

This working method not only ensures speed and quality but also creates strong synergy between the teams. They strengthen each other’s knowledge and continuously push the boundaries of innovation. Suzanne continues: “You notice the difference when knowledge and execution come together in one location. If a system supplier, grower, or engineer suggests an adjustment, a prototype is on the test bench in no time. And from there, the step to assembly is small. That speed, insight, and expertise of our team are indispensable. It fits perfectly with our shared ambition: to accelerate innovation – together.”

Developed with the market, for the market
A striking example of this approach is Maan Horti Automation’s latest product line: the Advanced Dispenser Series, which will launch in 2025 at GreenTech.

This new generation of dispensers is fully designed, developed, and tested internally, with constant feedback from customers.
“Our team worked closely with growers and automation specialists on a scalable system that meets the increasing demand for precision, repeatability, and sustainable performance,” Suzanne explains. She continues, “We don’t just develop ahead of the market, but especially with the market. Many of our innovations arise from direct conversations with customers. When we combine their input with our technical expertise, real progress happens.”

Experience innovation up close
What makes this development strategy truly special is that customers and partners can experience the technology up close. In the specially designed demo and development center in Raalte, visitors see the machines in action, gain insight into the entire innovation process, and meet the people behind the technology – from developers to assemblers.

By going through the entire production chain in one visit, transparency is created – as well as trust, both in the product and in the collaboration.
